Didn't Close the Deal

It “sucks” and it’s no fun missing the top 20 at the second stage of PGA Q-School. I was expecting to get to the final stage. After a strong first stage finish, it was a shock not to keep the momentum going.

It’s easy when things are going well. The hard part is when I’m over by 2 or 3. I don’t feel comfortable. I can’t shake it without a lot of effort. I start going back into old habits. The experience sure pointed out to me that it takes quite a while for new habits to take hold.

I’m glad I was able to recover in the final round. But, not enough to make up for lost ground.

I’ll be going over what happened, trying to make sense of it with the help of my coaches. This is what golf is all about. You gotta “close the deal” over and over again. I fell short this time. I aim not to the next time.

What’s great about golf is that there are always lots of other places to compete and work on the game.

A Milestone: First Stage of PGA Q-School

After two days of rain delays in Palm City Florida, we crammed four days into three for the first stage of PGA Q-School. I’m tired but happy. Made it through!

It’s been a long time since I hit minus thirteen in a competitive tournament. It feels good.

I hit the ball solid. Hit a lot of greens. More confident in my ball striking. Made sure I kept my head straight when it was tough out there.

I must work hard in preparation for the second stage. I have a long way to go. Lots of golf to play.
