Coming Down the Stretch Put Me To the Test

The competition in the Can Tour is tough. At minus 5, I just made the cut. Then, I set out to move up the leaderboard. It was a tense race.

At one point I was tied for second in the 4th round but a disastrous 16th hole did me in. I’ve got some work to do there.

I felt good that I recovered my emotions to birdie the 17th and 18th holes.

I’m taking a week or so off before my next Can Tour event. I want to visit my coaches, polish up some things.

It's Way More Fun on the Canadian Tour

Besides being a well run tournament, the Can Tour is way more fun than the Gateway. I get to hang out with my buddies from my amateur golf days: Andrew Parr, Richard Scott, Mark Leon, and J. C. Deacon. We do everything together. Stay together to save money. Even watch each other playing if we didn’t make the cut or we’re finished our round.

Yesterday, it was tough to watch Parr lose to Spencer Levin. He had that tourney in the bag. But, he played well. So, that’s what he should remember.

Today, we went over the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and saw Alcatraz and a beautiful view of the city. Then, we went to the course to practice. We’ll probably miss these days when we move on to other tours and other things.

Birdies Took a Hike at My Can Tour Debut

I can usually depend on my short game to pull me through. Not this time for my debut at the Can Tour as a new member.

I was fine with short putts but couldn’t get things going with the 12 to 18 foot ones when I needed them. Only one more solid putt was all I needed to make the cut. Heck, that’s golf!

I played pretty solid though. More steady.

Still working on my shots off the tee. I tend to pull left. But, Sean Foley has me working on some things that seem to be helping.

Hopefully, the birdies and long putts will come back for my second Can Tour Tournament next week.

A New Adventure

I’m heading out to California to play in my first Canadian Tour event as a member. After playing local tournaments in Florida for a couple of years, this is going to be a big change travel-wise. The upside is the opportunity to play on more PGA-level golf courses. Good preparation for the Nationwide and PGA levels.

I’ll be bunking in with guys from my days playing amateur golf in Canada and at college. We’ll save on some costs and keep each other company. Makes it easier to be away from my home base.
